Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts together with Rainbows, Brownies and Guides all attended a Remembrance Sunday ceremony this afternoon. The event started at 7th Bristol Scout HQ where the Guides had laid on bacon rolls, tea, coffee and sweets to raise funds for their upcoming Switzerland trip.

We then assembled outside in Waterloo Street ready for the procession through Clifton Village to the War Memorial at the site of the former St. Andrew’s church at Birdcage Walk.

The short service concluded with all the young people laying wreaths or crosses on the War Memorial to mark their respect.

We were blessed with lovely weather and a really good turnout of young people, leaders, parents and members of the local community. Thank you to everyone involved for making this such a well-attended and successful ceremony this year.

Please join us for a family-friendly Remembrance Sunday ceremony

7th Bristol Scouts, Cubs and Beavers will be joining with local Guides, Brownies and Rainbows together with members of the local community and British Legion and for a short ceremony to mark Remembrance Sunday on 13th November.

The service takes place by the War Memorial at the end of Birdcage Walk at the site of the former St. Andrew’s church. A map of the location is below.

We also invite everyone to join us beforehand from 1:00pm at our Scout HQ, Pavey House on Waterloo Street in Clifton Village where the Guides will be serving bacon rolls, tea, coffee and squash to raise funds for their upcoming Switzerland trip. From there everyone will walk down to the War Memorial in procession (~5 minute walk) ready for the ceremony start at 2pm.

If you can’t make it to the Scout HQ please do join with us at the War Memorial for the ceremony which starts at 2pm and will last approximately 20 minutes.

Important information for 7th Bristol Members:

All members of 7th Bristol (young people, leaders, parents and family) are requested to meet at the Scout HQ, Pavey House, at 12:45pm as we intend to use this opportunity to take a Group photo. We are keen to reinstate this annually as it documents our history as a Group (one of the oldest – if not the oldest –in Bristol) and is an interesting snapshot of social history. Have a look at three photos below from the 1940s and 1950s.

In addition, the Guides and Brownies are going to cook bacon rolls as a fundraiser for their Switzerland trip before we walk down for the service. They would be very grateful for any support. (Kids – £2 for bacon roll & squash, Adults – £2.50 for bacon roll & tea/coffee).

We will then walk in procession with our respective section flags to the War Memorial in plenty of time for the ceremony. The service starts at 2pm is very short and will be over by 2.30pm at the latest.

Please can everyone attend in full uniform, scarf, black school type trousers and shoes (no trainers). If possible, please wear a poppy too.

The ceremony will take place whatever the weather so please come prepared!
