What did you do last Monday night?
Well, the Scouts at 7th celebrated Burns Night 2026 by donning traditional Scottish clan names & taking part in our very first 7th Bristol Highland Games! 🏴 The “clans” fought it out across events such as:
* the Caber toss
* Haggis throwing
* "stone" carries
* Scottish trivia
….and then a final Tug-of-War tournament (where they even beat the leaders!)
Lots of fun was had all round and we've already been asked to make plans to celebrate Burns Night again next year.
Many thanks Holly Hughes for organising it all….what an amazing evening…. ... See MoreSee Less

Looked great fun Mike Keefe
Tonight the Beavers worked towards their Air Activities badge.
Alongside learning about all things aviation, the Beavers welcomed a special visitor, Mike Petteford, a hot air balloon pilot. He spoke to them about what it’s like to be a pilot and answered lots of curious and thoughtful questions.
The Beavers also took home instructions to make their very own paper aeroplanes, each choosing a design of their own.
We also held the official investiture of our new Kits, who are now fully welcomed as Beavers and have joined their Lodges. To mark this, we officially appointed our new Lodge Leaders and proudly awarded them their special Lodge Leader woggles.
A memorable and informative session — well done, Beavers! ... See MoreSee Less

What did you do last Monday night!?!
Well, the Scouts at 7th had an amazing evening thanks to Nina Allen, who did an amazing job of setting up a whole evening of team games and events to focus on teamwork!!
As part of this, we did events that included “can you have a fruit pastel without chewing it”….spoiler, they can, a memory game and a competition to see who can eat a biscuit without using their hands….
What a busy and amazing evening….
Thanks to all the Scouts team for setting these challenges….🦊 ... See MoreSee Less
What did you do last Thursday?
Well, the Cubs at 7th learned about disabilities and the way that some people have to navigate the world, even experiencing how difficult it is to do some simple things with no sight.
We also looked at some of the things Cubs would like to do and how we should all like to behave.
Thank you Gabriel Wong (aka Hathi) for organising this….and thanks to King Louis and our newest team member, Robin, who is for helping out too (as well as helping in Beavers!!)…. Go Cubs!! 🦊 ... See MoreSee Less

Tuesday’s session was full of practical skills, music and lots of fun.
The Beavers learned how to tie shoelaces and fold scarves, practising important skills that build independence and confidence.
They also learned some songs with fun dance moves in preparation for the upcoming campfire event, filling the hall with great energy and enthusiasm.

Tonight we were delighted to welcome lots of new Beavers to the colony.
Some of our new members have moved up from Squirrels, and others are completely new to Beavers. It was lovely to see everyone settling in and getting to know each other.
We shared ideas about what makes a good Lodge Leader and reminded ourselves of the Beaver values, thinking about how we can all support one another and work together.
We also played a fun game of Treetop Twist, with great spirits, energy and enthusiasm all round.
A really positive and welcoming session — well done, Beavers! ... See MoreSee Less

These are amazing!! Well done cubs!!
Tuesday’s session was full of festive fun and celebration.
The Beavers took part in a lively egg and spoon race, showing great balance, determination and plenty of laughs. This was followed by a cheerful game of bingo, which had everyone concentrating, cheering and enjoying the festive atmosphere together.
We also took time to award badges, celebrating the hard work, effort and achievements the Beavers have made over recent weeks. It was a lovely opportunity to recognise their progress and share a moment of pride as a group.
We also said goodbye and congratulations to five Beavers who will be moving up to Cubs in January.

What did you do Thursday night?
Well, the Cubs at 7th completed their scientist badge.
To do this, they:
1 - delivered a project to protect an egg when dropped out a window
2 - learned about their pulses and how exercise affects it
3 - made ice-cream with cream and a bag of ice (it was really good too)
So, we now have little scientists!!!
Thanks Kaa for arranging and organising it. ... See MoreSee Less

Tonight the Beavers explored colour, science and some very lively teamwork games.
We began by making rainbow disc spinners, discovering how colours blend when the discs are spun at speed. The Beavers experimented with patterns and designs, testing how different colour combinations changed once the discs were in motion.
Next, they moved on to a magnetic challenge. The Beavers created their own fish, added metal clips, and made simple fishing rods using magnets. They then competed in their Lodges to see who could “catch” the most fish and score the highest points — a brilliant mix of creativity, teamwork and problem-solving.
To finish the evening, the Beavers played a high-energy game of Elephant Ball. Forming a large circle, they defended the space between their legs while rolling the ball to each other using their “trunks”. The game tested coordination, quick reactions and strategy, with the circle shrinking as players were knocked out. Lots of laughs and great enthusiasm all round.
A fantastic session full of discovery, creativity and fun — well done, Beavers! ... See MoreSee Less

What did you do on a cold, muddy Thursday night?
Well, the Cubs of 7th had a boisterous (and loud) evening at Durdham Downs….
They played numerous games which included Bulldog, Capture the Flag and a few other games…
It was a dark evening but they had a great time and only got a little muddy (sorry about that)…..

Tonight’s session was full of creativity, teamwork and great energy.
We began with Flapping Fish, where the Beavers made their own paper fish and raced them across the hall using fast “gusts” to help them glide along. Lots of brilliant effort and cheering from their Lodges.
The Beavers then designed their own machines and explained how they worked — an activity that brought out some fantastic imagination and problem-solving.
To finish, they tackled a ball balance challenge. Working together while holding strings attached to a central ring, the Beavers had to communicate clearly, give directions and cooperate to keep the ball steady and guide it safely to its target. Their focus and teamwork were excellent.
A fun and engaging evening — well done, Beavers! ... See MoreSee Less

Tonight the Beavers became special agents on a mission to Egypt!
Each Beaver received their own secret code name before working in their Lodges to decode hieroglyphics and solve a series of clues. Our older Beavers were fantastic at guiding the younger ones through the trickier parts — brilliant teamwork all round.
We also played a very fun game of Mole and Officer!
At the end of the session, we gave special recognition to one of our Beavers who has recently shown our values brilliantly while raising money for charity. A well-deserved moment of pride. ... See MoreSee Less

This looks amazing, how can I sign my daughter up to start squirrels.?
This week the Beavers completed their Money Skills badge.
It was a special session where they learned about giving to charity and how their choices can help others. They voted to support Children’s Hospice South West and welcomed a special visitor from the charity, who shared the important work they do and was very impressed with the maturity, kindness and enthusiasm shown by our group.
The Beavers raised an impressive £282.36 by doing good deeds in their community — helping others and even selling homemade cakes in the village. They then counted the donations together and presented the total in an exciting cheque-presentation ceremony.
As well as this, the Beavers designed their own coins and explored how charities use money to support others.
We are incredibly proud of every single Beaver for their effort, generosity and teamwork. A truly outstanding achievement. ... See MoreSee Less

Very proud of all of them. Well done Beavers! 👏⚜️
