Summer Camp – live blog

Saturday afternoon – goodbye camp

We said goodbye to a few of the scouts on camp this morning including Ollie who was off on a family holiday. A good spread was laid on at lunch for all who remained.

The camp closing ceremony began with the results of the week-long patrol competition. It has been neck-and-neck between the two 7th Bristol troops all week. Only 1 point separated the winners and runner-up and the award went to…

TROOP C – Cool Cids Camp. WINNERS! 255 points

Troop A came second. 254 points

Well done to Troop C scouts, PL Sam, APL Art, Rufus P, Isaac and Jack

Well done also to Troop A scouts, PL Ted, APL Lucas, Elliot, Ollie and Rufus B.

You are all a credit to your group and leaders.

All that remained was to do the final flag break, finish the big pack-up, and head home.

Summer camp 2017 is officially over. What a brilliant time. Massive thanks to our amazing leaders and everyone involved in making this another hugely successful and memorable camp for our scouts.

Saturday morning

Everyone’s a bit sad that today camp comes to an end. We await the final scores of the patrol competition after lunch, but in the meantime the big pack-up begins.

Friday night

The last night of this year’s Summer Camp has arrived. After the boys filled up on tuck shop snacks it was time for the campfire. We had a sing song, games and each patrol performed their own sketch which they’d prepared earlier in the evening. Even the leaders joined in with their own sketch! The rain held off for most of the evening until around 9:30pm when we all gathered in the marquee to shelter from the drizzle. More games ensued, plus hot chocolate and biscuits to round off a fun evening and brilliant camp. We begin tomorrow with final scores at flag break when we find out which patrol is this year’s winner. Stay tuned!

Friday afternoon

Weather has been cloudy but dry all day. We went building model rafts for the raft race down the river. It quickly degenerated into everyone getting into their wet gear for swimming and having fun with the inflatables! Everyone suitably shattered, so back to camp for dinner before the traditional Friday night campfire.

Friday morning

After breakfast and flag break it was time for the Patrol Challenge. 8 different activities that required skill, coordination or teamwork!

Thursday evening

We had a fun night out at the Swindon Speedway where local team the Robins comfortably beat visitors Poole Pirates.

Thursday afternoon

The scouts we’re enjoying shooting, rafting and relaxing this afternoon. Our chairman got a tour of the camp site. It’s most impressive!
