Several of the 7th Bristol leadership team have recently received Long Service Awards.
The recipients are as follows:
5 Year Long Service Award:
- Alex Punter (Assistant Cub Scout Leader)
- Leza Jagroop (ex-Beaver Scout Leader, now Executive Committee member)
- Peter Newbery (Group Treasurer)
10 Year Long Service Award:
- Lysa Webb (Assistant Scout Leader)
40 Year Long Service Award:
- Steve Bennett (Scout Leader)
Steve Bennett (known as ‘Silver’ to the Scouts) has been a Leader for a continuous period of 40 years. This, we believe, is quite an unusual and extraordinary achievement because he has been ‘at the coalface’ working directly with the young people throughout this period rather than ‘in the background’ in an administrative or District capacity. Well done and congratulations Steve!
District Commissioner Chris Gavriel handed out the awards during his recent visit to the Group, and Group Scout Leader Alastair Iles re-presented two of the awards on Monday evening in front of the admiring Scouts.
We thank all these wonderful volunteers for the time they freely dedicate to provide scouting to our young people.
